That’s according to a recent travel agency survey of boomers in Australasia.

The survey reveals that boomers are cruising more than ever before and for longer than ever before.

Silversea announces new luxury expedition ship – and it’s coming to New Zealand!

Luxury small ship cruise line Silversea has just announced a new expedition ship will join its fleet in March 2014.

The 128-passenger Silver Discoverer is set to undergo a multi-million dollar refurbishment before embarking on her maiden voyage from Bali on March 1st.

It joins other expedition ships, Silver Explorer, which has been with Silversea for five years, and Silver Galapagos, which makes its maiden voyage later this month.

Sapphire set to debut in China

Princess Cruises is set to enter the domestic Chinese market from May next year, the company announced this week.

Shanghai will be the homeport for the 2,670-passenger Sapphire Princess over four months, where it is expected she will carry over 70,000 passengers.

Sapphire Princess will operate four different itineraries ranging in length from three to seven days and destinations will include the Korean ports of Seoul, Jeju, Inchon and Busan.

P&Os World Cruise visits New Zealand

P&O has announced two world cruises in 2015 with a maiden visit to New Zealand’s Akaroa in the South Island.

And there is a special bonus deal for early-bird bookings where you can earn up to $1,000 in onboard credits if you book before December 31 2013.

The two world cruises will be round-trip from Southampton and each offers a different itinerary.

Antarctica Cruise Experience

In January 2013 I traveled to Antarctica on board the Quark expedition vessel “Ocean Diamond”.

On arrival at Ushuaia we were met by the Quark land operator and transferred to our pre cruise accommodation, Hotel Las Lengas, after check-in the remainder of our day was free to explore Ushuaia before a pre expedition briefing at 4pm (at the hotel).  The first day of the expedition was free until a representative from Quark came back to the hotel and transferred us to our ship.  The Ocean Diamond is a good 3.5 star standard with all your needs catered for, right down to a basic small gym.
