Silversea sets the overnight trend

Luxury small-ship cruise company Silversea is increasing its overnight stays in major destinations allowing guests to explore further afield. Silversea’s president for Europe & Asia Pacific Steve Odell told Cruise Weekly the overnight stays gave their guests the benefit of longer and more varied excursions.

Celebrity’s two ships down-under

Two Celebrity Cruise ships are going to be cruising around the Australasian region in 2014/15, including a 17-night cruise from Auckland to Perth. Celebrity Century and Celebrity Solstice will offer a total of 27 cruises in summer 2014/15 ranging from three to 23 nights and offering departures from Sydney, Freemantle and Auckland.

The forty-something corporate executive explains he’s “always loved ships” and as a child loved going down to see the occasional cruise liner visiting Wellington in the 70s.
